Self Assessment

  • 6th April - Start of tax year

  • 31st July - Deadline for paying payments on account

  • 5th October - Deadline for Self Assessment registration

  • 31st October - Paper Tax Return filing deadline

  • 31st January - Online Tax Return deadline

  • 31st January - Deadline for paying tax due

  • 5th April - End of tax year

Limited Companies

  • Deadline for filing accounts at Companies House - 9 months after year end

  • Deadline for filing Corporation Tax Return with HMRC - 12 months after year end

  • Deadline for paying Corporation Tax - 9 months and 1 day after year end

  • Deadline for filing Confirmation Statement - 12 months after date of incorporation or the date previous confirmation statement filed

VAT

  • Deadline for VAT Registration if your taxable turnover is expected to exceed the VAT threshold in the next 30- day period - End of that 30 day period. For example, if on 1st May you expect to exceed the VAT threshold you must register by 30th May. Your effective date for registration is 1st May.

  • Deadline for VAT registration if your taxable turnover turnover exceeds the VAT threshold in the past 12 months - 30 days after the end of the month in which the VAT threshold was exceeded. For example, your taxable turnover in the previous 12 months exceeds the VAT threshold on 9th July, you must register for VAT by 30th August. Your effective date for registration is 1st September.

  • VAT Return filing deadline - 1 month and 7 days after end of VAT period

  • VAT payment deadline - 1 month and 7 days after end of VAT period.

Payroll & CIS

  • Start of tax year - 6th April

  • File Real Time Information (RTI) - On or before your employee's payday

  • File monthly CIS Return - 19th of each month

  • Pay PAYE and NI liability - 22nd (19th by post) of the month

  • Give your employees a P60 - 31st May

  • Report employee expenses and benefits - 6th July

  • File final Full Payment Submission (FPS) - Final pay day in the tax year

  • End of tax year - 5th April
